November marks the season of 'giving thanks' when we are encouraged to count our blessings and show our appreciation for life's many gifts.
Indeed, there is ample scientific research to suggest that having an "attitude of gratitude" is very good for our health. Being grateful helps to improve the quality of our sleep, increases our ability to empathize with others, lowers our blood pressure, helps combat depression and even boosts our self esteem. Physically and emotionally, when it comes to gratitude, there is much to be grateful for!
However, when we've suffered a painful loss, are dealing with an illness (our own or that of a loved one) or experiencing a broken relationship, the 'happy holiday' season tends to amplify our hurts, making it difficult to express or experience genuine gratitude. Through the simple, intuitive and creative process known as SoulCollage®, we will discover ways in which we can cultivate gratitude in the midst of life's joys and challenges. We'll share practical and imaginative ways to help us make room in our hearts for gratitude, as well as create simple rituals and discuss ways to incorporate a gratitude practice into our daily lives by tapping into the gentle wisdom of saints, monks and mystics from several spiritual traditions.
